Role: Director, Finance & Accounting

Location: Remote US-Based

Essential Functions:

  • Financial and Accounting Management: Oversee all aspects of financial and accounting management, including general ledger, receivables, payables, payroll, benefits analysis, financial planning, budgeting, headcount modeling and forecasting. Collaborate with clinical operations to produce timely, accurate estimates of clinical trial expenses, resulting in improved accruals and analysis.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Equity Management: Act as SME for equity management and communications, both internally with stakeholders and externally with investors and partners.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulations. Develop all necessary accounting policies and procedures to support growth of the company’s operations, and eventually in a focused commercialization model.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies within the finance and accounting functions, implementing best practices and optimizing workflows to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management to develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives. Provide insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Audit Management: Manage the annual audit process, including coordination with external auditors, preparation of audit schedules, and resolution of audit findings in a timely manner.
  • Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements; work closely with external tax advisors to optimize tax planning strategies and minimize tax liabilities.
  • Treasury Management: Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and debt financing activities to optimize liquidity and support business operations.
  • Financial Systems: Evaluate and implement financial systems and tools to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance data integrity.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate financial performance, forecasts, and strategic initiatives to senior management, the board of directors, investors, and other stakeholders.
  • Compliance and Ethics: Uphold high ethical standards and ensure compliance with company policies, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical space-ideally in a commercial stage organization.
  • Ten plus (10+) years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles, with at least five plus (5+) years in a leadership or management capacity.
  • Experience managing financial audits, tax compliance, and treasury functions.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, SEC reporting requirements and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and change management initiatives.
  • Strong financial modeling skills and highly proficient in Excel required.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and commitment to excellence


The U.S. target annual salary range for this remote, full-time, position is currently set at $200,000-$215,000. The actual base salary offered for this role will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, market factors, experience and considering internal equity. In addition, to the base salary, CG Oncology offers a very attractive set of Total Rewards (including bonus and equity) and Well-Being Benefits provided as part of the overall compensation package for this role.
